The Freedom design includes both hardware and software
design deliverables for a DECT-VoIP system. Its
development faced important chalanges in order to meet
the both targets of a low Bill of Materials and a high
flexibility in application development and supportable
services. The hardware design focused on reaching a
low-cost Bill of Materials essential to meet the
global VoIP cordless terminals market. The software
architecture focused on having the highest degree of
flexibility through the combination of advanced cordless
and VoIP technologies with Linux.
Freedom's main features include:
- DECT and SIP protocols run on a single Sitel Semiconductor SC14450 controller
- Versions for DECT (Europe, Australia) and DECT 6.0 (North America) available
- CAT-iq and wideband audio support
- Base station applications run on uCLinux
