The company's background is on design and development of digital radio technology. The company historical activity is on the DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) field. The know-how in DECT evolved to DECT 6.0 (used in USA and Canada) and CAT-iq (Cordless Advanced Technology—internet and quality). A number of products with Bithium technology are out both in the consumer and professional/business markets. It also provides solutions using GSM/GPRS technolgy for different applications.

We provide consulting services in all product development stages: product specification, embedded system design, industrial design, prototyping, testing and production.

Bithium's focus is on wireless technologies and their interfaces. These include digital cordless telephone technology (DECT), GSM/GPRS, and on the interface area, VoIP, ISDN, PSTN as well as USB interface and DSP integration know-how. Embedded Linux for Telecommunications developments is also a key area for us.

Back in 2001, Bithium started its activity and focused in data communications using the DECT standard. The DECT DPRS/DMAP stack is also available and provides a standardized method for data transport over the DECT air interface.

Although data communications over DECT was not succesful in those days, we see that the evolution of data networks and the integration of VoIP technology is bringing back the expected importance of data communications over DECT.

The company has persued activities of licensing of protocol stack libraries, technical support, product development and production of developed products. Bithium announced in 2008 its Freedom DECT-VoIP design and started offering services in VoIP and Linux areas complementing its core activity in wireless.

Bithium is investing in its CAT-iq protocol stacks and developments as a step forward towards the standardization of advanced DECT equipments and making these become popular.
